Songs That Made Me Tour 2014

I am feeling so blessed to be a part of this very exciting tour with absolutely legendary females Angie Hart, Melody Pool and Sam Buckingham.  What a bunch of amazing women!

Songs That Made Me

The album features Katie and some of her favourite female artists interpreting the songs that influenced their lives.

Katie and friends perform songs made famous by artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Jeff Buckley, Nina Simone, Prince, Terence Trent D’arby, James Brown, Feist, Lucinda Williams, Phil Collins, Paul Simon, Joni Mitchell, Radiohead, The Chordettes and The Pretenders. This is a truly beautiful and intimate album filled with collaboration between the various artists to create a truly unique album experience.

100% of profits from the album go to Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon.

A series of unique live shows featuring Katie Noonan,
Abby Dobson, Angie Hart and Martha Marlow

Songs That Made Me united four of Australia’s finest female singer/songwriters, Katie Noonan, Abby Dobson, Angie Hart and Martha Marlow, to share stories of their influences, artistic journeys and the landmark songs that have sound-tracked their lives. Following a sell out preview season at Sydney venue Camelot in October, the girls took the show on the road for a national tour. There are currently plans in place for another tour later in 2014.

Drawing from a list of artists ranging from Carole King, Jeff Buckley and Joni Mitchell to Fiona Apple, Nancy Sinatra, Tiddas and Kylie Minogue, these artists put a truly unique spin on some of the songs that have shaped their lives. The four singers share the stage for the entire show and collaborate naturally as they discuss and perform the songs, in a relaxed, intimate and spontaneous way.

Katie explained: “There is nothing I love more than sitting around with my girlfriends, talking and sharing stories. But as a musician, I find we don’t get to share the stage with other artists very often – especially female artists. I thought this would be a wonderful and unique opportunity to share the stage through story and song and hang out with cool chicks at the same time! I am very excited to share the space with these gorgeous women whom I admire and respect, and think it will be a very special night for the audience and us!”.

“I knew it would be a pure delight to be sitting on stage amongst all these fabulously talented women, listening to their stories about their influences and musical love affairs and to sit with them in the round while they perform these songs; to behold their voices,” said Abby Dobson. “Then we played a bunch of songs together; the songs that have made us thus far…. there were four part harmonies we weaved as well, which is just about the most fun a girl can have with her clothes on!”

Angie Hart said, “I was incredibly excited to be asked to join these wonderful women on stage. To collaborate with these wildly talented musicians, and to share in their stories was too good an opportunity to refuse.”

Songs That Made Me is a live show in two parts, complete with interval. The four singers were joined by a female rhythm section and also performed with their own instruments.
